Here we are, with only one week left before you finally walk down the aisle and say “I do” to your soul mate, we thought that a little Wedding Countdown article could be useful for you and your fiancé and remind you the few things you have to do and think about before the big Day.
I know that right now you are trying for days now (or months) to picture what it’s like to really be a wife and not just her girlfriend or fiancé, try to picture you and your Dad walking down the aisle and I can tell you that you can’t be really and fully prepared to this kind of emotion and event.
This is a once in a life time moment where you can’t picture the whole thing even 2 days before it, and you will actually pinch yourself the D-DAY wondering if this is happening for real or if you’ re just dreaming!
Step 1: Meet with your suppliers.
In person or via Skype if necessary but schedule a meeting with them, your photographer, florist, band etc… and review with them all the details of the day, the time and the location to make sure they have all the information.
Step 2: Your Wedding Timetable.
You may think that it’s not so important to organize your wedding day minute by minute but you are wrong ladies.
This is your guide and chef and this is for your own good and health!
This is why you have to meet all your vendors and ask them about the timings, beauty session for example, how long will it take?
The best way to feel completely relax when the day comes, and avoid stress and panic if your photographer is not at the right place at the right time…
Give it to every suppliers and your maid of honor or best man and make sure they understand everything and leave you and your fiancé alone on your wedding day!
Step 3: Pick up your outfit.
Groom and Bride this is the moment where you have to go pick up your suit or dress, and make a last fitting in the boutique before taking it home.
Make sure everything is perfect, your wedding dress or suit is just fabulous and exactly how you wanted it to be like.
Step 4: Place all the final payments and tips in different envelopes.
Choose someone your trust, member of your family or friend and give him/her the envelopes to distribute on the wedding day and be the point person for the vendors.
Step 5: Seating plans and escort cards.
Time to give your final seating plan to your caterer and waiters and if you finally make up your mind regarding the escort cards or not thing, you can put your artist and creative hat and make the cards yourself, DIY here you come!
Step 6: Gather an Emergency Wedding Kit.
Just in case something goes wrong with your shoes, dress or hair… Put a needle and thread (that match your exact wedding dress color), some talk, band aids, different types and sizes, plastic gloves for your bridesmaids with red nail, bad idea if you have 100 little buttons to put in your back… just sayin’.
Step 7: Prepare your toast, vows or any speech you plan to make.
You may want to play security rather than impro on your wedding day… stress + champagne + 400 eyes starring + emotion … Deadly cocktail mixing.
Step 8: Plan a fun night with your girls.
Yes you can read just fine, and this is not negotiable. You need a break and a real one, a night out with your friends, a night where you will erase the “W” word and talk about something else (yes there are actually things in this world not related to your wedding!) and you might learn information and stories you completely missed…
Step 9: Pack your Honeymoon luggage.
If you are the lucky couple who can leave on honeymoon just after the wedding and continue the dreaming moment, well pack your things and Bon Voyage!
Step 10: Repeat after me.
Bob was right, ” Rise up this mornin’, smiled with the risin’ sun” and …. Everything’s gonna be alright, everything’s gonna be alright …..
ENJOY xx
