Your Wedding Caterer is one of the most important things when it comes to your Wedding Checklist and you have to think about it very carefully to make sure you choose the right one and the best one, according to what you are looking for and your personal criteria. Let’s find out how to choose your wedding caterer like a real pro.

Big question here. In fact, this is probably in the Top 3 most important questions in the whole wedding organization and not the easiest one.
Searching for the right caterer is not something you can take lightly and even less leaving it all until the last minute!
Believe me when I tell you that this is something you have to take seriously and look for in advance to avoid any stress, rush or disappointment … So let’s try to answer this crucial question : How to choose your Wedding Caterer ?

First, you have to check with the venue you chose if they recommend or more than recommend, insist that you use a particular one or not.
Some venues will ask you to choose one of the suppliers they work with in their own listing or some will let you choose your own, so make sure you are aware of your venue catering policy before you begin your hunt!

When it comes to food, THE best caterer is really up to you, your own needs and wishes. Of course there are bad caterers but as you have read our article and advice for months I am sure you are now fully prepared and know how to plan you wedding!

Once you’ve decided what kind of food and menu you wish to have, you can start searching for a least 4 to 6 caterers (not more than that, or you will get confused and make the decision harder).
You can now start to call them and check their availability, it will probably make your list shorter… and also ask if their menu can suit your needs and budget.
You should end up this first step with no more than 3 potential caterers.
This is now time to ask if you can meet each of them, and ask them the right questions.
The type of menus they suggest for your budget, if they can accommodate for vegetarian or any allergies, their deposit/refund/cancellation policy, and if they provide bartenders and waiters, is the serving staff included in the price, what will they wear, do they provide children menu, do they provide equipments, when is the final guest count due etc….
What I can advise you is to ask your potential caterers for a private tasting. You may pay for it but I can assure you that it will not be a waste of money.
You have to taste what you are going to serve and make sure it’s what you want and that you are happy to offer this menu to your guests.

If you have trouble deciding on which caterers you prefer, you should base your final choice on which caterer is willing to answer all your criteria, and as I said many times, your wedding caterer is really important so don’t make too many concessions, you have the right to be demanding.

The food at your wedding will be talked about for many years after so I am sure you want them to talk about it in a good way and not the other way around, right ? 😉

xx
